NIC (Nasdaq: EGOV) launched TourHealth, an all-in-one solution for Covid-19 testing and informing residents about how and where to get tested. TourHealth is used by state and county governments and higher education institutions. During the pandemic, NIC also launched TeleGov, a SaaS solution that allows residents to schedule virtual appointments with government agencies and upload documents.
The TourHealth solution is a three-way partnership with NIC, Impact Health Inc., a Pennsylvania-based provider of field-based health and wellness services, and Next Marketing Inc., a Georgia-based experiential marketing company.
The Kansas City Business Journal reports that TourHealth fits with NIC’s mission to help people easily navigate and interact with governments digitally. According to Doug Rogers, NIC’s senior vice president of strategic initiatives, it is “a unique offering” for the Olathe-based company,
“In many ways, it is different than much of our core business,” he said.
But early in the pandemic, NIC was adamant about finding ways it could help governments and their constituents. TourHealth uses NIC’s Gov2Go mobile and web-enabled consumer engagement app. Via the app, residents can learn where to get tested, answer questions about symptoms and medical history and schedule an appointment. Test results also are securely delivered via Gov2Go.
Since its August launch, TourHealth has tested more than 250,000 people in five states, including Kansas. It recently partnered with the state of Kansas to open two free testing sites in in the Kansas City area, one in Olathe and the other in Leavenworth. Another site is slated to open soon in Wyandotte County. TourHealth also is providing Covid-19 testing in southern Florida, where its site routinely sees 2,000 to 3,000 people daily, Rogers said. In Mississippi, more than 64,000 appointments across 31 locations were booked since October.
“Our ability to do this — do it on scale and do it consistently — is a real honor for our company,” he said. “It’s a core component in how we think about our obligation to serve not just our state partners but serve constituents across the country.”
Now with vaccines rolling out, TourHealth plans to transition to offering both Covid-19 testing and vaccinations, he said.
The TASBIA™ Bottom Line
NIC Telegov (NASDAQ: EGOV) has historically provided systems for activities such as DMV appointments and unemployment agencies, but now they have extended their solution to COVID-19 testing and vaccination appointments. Their customer base includes many states and local municipalities, and from these relationships and their state-based corporation model, they have been able to quickly navigate the contractual and legal hurdles to launch their solutions.
Update (31 Jan 2021): NIC Telegov is live in Alabama based on the scheduling link offered on the state website.
